The Dunes represent a vast, sandy transition zone on the ocean planet 4546B, characterized by rolling underwater sand formations and sparse vegetation. Located primarily in shallow waters near the starting area, this biome serves as a crucial bridge between the safe initial zones and the deeper, more dangerous regions of the world.
It is often one of the first biomes encountered by survivors following the Aurora crash, offering essential early-game resources while maintaining a relatively low threat level. The shifting sands create unique geological features that hide ore deposits and provide shelter for smaller aquatic life.

Lore & Background
Geologically, the Dunes are formed by strong underwater currents that have sculpted the seabed over millennia. The sediment here is finer than in rocky biomes, allowing for easier traversal but also obscuring valuable mineral veins within the sand ridges. This area was likely part of a coastal shelf before the planet's unique atmospheric and oceanic conditions shifted.
In terms of planetary history, the Dunes often contain scattered debris from human vessels that have crashed or broken apart over time. While not as heavily littered as the Crash Site itself, fragments of technology can occasionally be found half-buried in the sand, hinting at previous attempts to survive on 4546B.
